About the Item
Guillaume ROCHE
The artist translates movement and energy through the dynamism of assemblages and seeks the balance of composition. His sculptures offer aerial movements, round shapes with powerful lines, delicate and sensual cuts.
The contextualization of his works, inscribing the approach of Guillaume Roche in the field of architecture: work of structure, lines, matter and skin, study of a volume and its proportions according to context and environment. His work is conceived to be connected with the territory. The EXCLOS series is born from the encounter of the concepts of EXPLOSION and ECLOSION. The artist conceives these imposing spheres of steel as a powerful breath contained by a gentle force that channels and envelops this primary energy.
Working with stainless steel, Guillaume seeks contrast through concepts such as full-void, light-weight, balance-fall. In contrast, he finds total freedom of creation. He invites us into a world where the dualities are pacified: strength, gentleness; feminine masculine ; intimate, public, the opposites attract each other. He builds a powerful and elegant universe;. Each piece is unique, designed and realized in his workshop

Guillaume Roche
Guillaume Roche is a sculptor. Born in Lorient, graduated from the National School of Applied Arts in Paris, the artist works in Étrechy in Essonne. Stainless steel is his modeling ground. More than a favorite material, the artist obsessively pushes the limits of the material. The contrasts it provokes, solid suppleness, cold reflection, smooth roughness, massive lightness (...) give every day the tension necessary for the sculptor to work. The action is a constant round trip between body and matter. Athletic temporality where man develops the characteristics of the material through his own physical limits. But also intellectual, by the way he explores all the technical and mechanical properties of his metal skins. His research is carried out in a geometric work, which perpetuates the dynamics caused by stainless steel. Spheres, cubes, curves, parallel or perpendicular are the tools of the sculptor in the tension of his work. Form after form, each period is the deepening of a geometry in its monumental quest. His source of inspiration: the transformation of matter. It freely recomposes the metal plates cut with plasma and stamped with hammer-hammer. The artist translates movement and energy by the dynamism of the assemblages and seeks the balance of the composition. His sculptures offer us aerial movements, round shapes with powerful lines, delicate and sensual cuts. The contextualization of his Monumentales works, inscribes the approach of Guillaume Roche in the field of architecture: work of structure, lines, matter, study of a volume and its proportions according to a context and an environment. Monumental and yet light, he conceives his works, of a highly controlled stability, at the limit of their point of balance.

- "Tenitic Necklace Reg " a contemporary, fine gauge stainless steel necklaceLocated in Morgan Hill, CACrafted by the brilliant mind of Taos, New Mexico based jeweler, Julie Lake. This layered hexagonal necklace looks both modern and delicate. Made from incredibly strong spring tempered and fuse welded stainless steel. Ultra reflective surface interacts with the light as the body moves. This piece is hypoallergenic and non-tarnishing making it the perfect necklace for everyone. Bio Julie Lake hand fabricates her metal work exclusively from a spring tempered, fine gauge stainless steel. She uses an arc welding process at precise settings to join the metal by melting and fusing it together at the tiny joints. The nature of this stainless steel, along with the welding process, allows Lake to create complex and visually fragile, yet deceptively strong forms with very small diameter wires. Although the welding of steel is typically regarded as an industrial process, Lake likens her technique to the domestic act of sewing or knitting. By way of welding, she methodically and repetitively stitches together the threads of stainless steel which accumulate into larger forms. Her decision to only create with this very specific material is quite minimalistic, but Lake engages with the material with multidisciplinary intent. Her work spans from large scale art installation, to design-driven functional items, to wearable and decorative pieces rooted in fine craft. This multidisciplinary approach allows the individual pieces to cross-pollinate with and inform each other. Lake's training as a maker started at a very young age. Her father, Ron Lake, is a machinist who went on to establish a career creating fine folding knives...Category
