Henry Moore
Henry Moore, "Dromedary", original etching, signed

1983

About the Item

This piece is an original etching, aquatint and roulette by Henry Moore, created in 1981. It is from Moore's album of 15 original etchings, entitled "Animals in the Zoo". Henry Moore was an English artist who was best known for his semi-abstract sculptors and graphic works that always had an element of nature to them. Most of the studies from this series are based on sketches made a couple of years previously to amuse his grandson Gus, which had been interpreted from photographs taken at the London Zoo by Moore’s assistant Michel Muller. This piece is an example of Plate II of the album in it's final state. It is hand signed as well as signed in the plate. It is numbered from the edition of 65 on Arches paper (see multiple edition sizes below). The frame measures 25.75 x 26.75 inches, the image measures 9.75 x 7.75 inches and the paper measures 21 x 18 inches. This piece was printed by James Collyer and John Crossley of JC Editions, London, 1982 and is embossed with the printer's blind stamp. This piece is referenced as number 635 of "Henry Moore: The Graphic Works 1980-1984" by Patrick Cramer.
