Lithograph by C.W. Anderson from 1948 folio edition, All Thoroughbreds. Published by Harper & Brothers, New York, 1948. Nebraskan born Clarence William Anderson (1891-1971) was an author and illustrator of over thirty-five children’s books, specializing in equestrian themes which reflected his personal interest, being also an accomplished ride and show judge. While his books were popular and his writing reflected his extensive knowledge of the subject, his work is mainly collected for his beautiful drawings. All Throughbreds is one of several lithographic folios created by the artist and contains 20 black and white illustrations rendered in his meticulously accurate and realistic style.
