This catalog of twelve smaller-size offset-lithograph reproductions was produced to advertise and promote Frankenthaler's larger full-size original 1995 "Reflections" series of twelve lithographs "Reflections I-XII", (Harrison page 44). With history about the production of the series written by Kenneth Tyler. Comes in its original blue Tyler Graphics, Ltd. envelope. Working photographs by Marabeth Cohen-Tyler. Designed by Lorraine Ferguson. Digital color separations by Milocraft, Inc., New York, NY. This complete set would look great once framed as a group together. Biography: Helen Frankenthaler (1928-2011) was an American abstract expressionist painter. She was a major contributor to the history of postwar American painting. Frankenthaler began exhibiting her large-scale abstract expressionist paintings in contemporary museums and galleries in the early 1950s. She was included in the 1964 Post-Painterly Abstraction exhibition curated by Clement Greenberg that introduced a newer generation of abstract painting that came to be known as Color Field. Born in Manhattan, she was influenced by Greenberg, Hans Hofmann, and Jackson Pollock's paintings. Her work has been the subject of several retrospective exhibitions, including a 1989 retrospective at the MOMA in NYC. In 2001, she was awarded the National Medal of Arts.

Biography: Frank Stella (1936-) is an American artist best known for his use of geometric patterns and shapes in creating both paintings and sculptures. Arguably one of the most influential living American artists, Stella’s works utilize the formal properties of shape, color, and composition to explore non-literary narratives, as seen in his work Harrar II (1967) from the Protractor series. “Abstraction didn't have to be limited to a kind of rectilinear geometry or even a simple curve geometry. It could have a geometry that had a narrative impact. In other words, you could tell a story with the shapes,” he explained. “It wouldn't be a literal story, but the shapes and the interaction of the shapes and colors would give you a narrative sense. You could have a sense of an abstract piece flowing along and being part of an action or activity.” Born on May 12, 1936 in Malden, MA, Stella went on to study history at Princeton University before moving to New York in 1958.
