Howard Schatz spent several years photographing flowers, developing a specific love for Dahlias. The images he created are surreal in their richness of color and detail. 'Dahlia #2' is straightforward yet entrancing - It is a closeup of a Dahlia's flower bud, so detailed even the veins in the flower's petals are visible. The rhythmic arrangement of the pointed petals creates a kaleidoscopic image. The colouring in deep blue, light purple and neon green adds a surreal tpuch. Opulent flower crowns, intertwined bodies, and decadent dinners hosted in underwater worlds – Howard Schatz’s imagery is marked by grandeur and abundance. Transgressing genres and motives, Schatz approaches portraits, nature photography, and the moving body in all its forms with an outburst of passion and energy. Liquid colors, extravagant perspectives, and daring details surprise the onlooker at every corner. Succulent vegetation and airy fabrics bleed into magical compositions.
