About the Item
Olga Antonova’s subject is compositions of extraordinarily elegant, beautiful and whimsical cups, plates, teapots, vases and dishes, but there is something playful about these paintings. Stacked teacups are also amusing, having a kind of jaunty and upbeat personality of their own. Polka dots are as endearing to adults as to children, and everyone responds to the bling and sparkle of gold and silver while marveling at Antonova’s seemingly effortless ability to paint these radiant details.

"Cup Composition with Gold and White Cups and Orange Ball on Pale Aqua Ground"
Oil on Canvas
16 x 20 Inches (Unframed)
This lovely intricate composition of stacked cups with a single small orange ball balanced in the middle is shimmery with sparkling touches of gold and aqua throughout. The artist's works always straddle a fine line between a traditional and contemporary aesthetic which is so much a part of Antonova's appeal and this complex composition with it's hints of color in contrast to white and gold is exceptionally beautiful.
Olga Antonova's paintings can be installed individually, they also work well in groupings as part of a series.
Commissions incorporating one’s own personal collection of family heirlooms is also an option.
Olga Antonova was born in Volgograd Russia in 1956 and graduated from the Repin Institute in St. Petersburg in 1980. Soon after graduation she immigrated to the US and has resided in the Boston area for many years. Her works have been exhibited in 34 solo exhibitions and in over 60 group shows in the US and Europe, articles have regularly appeared in “The Boston Globe,” “American Art Collector,” “Art News” and “The Boston Herald,” and her works are included in numerous private and public collections including the Jane Voorhees Zimmerli Museum, Rutgers University. Antonova is also the recipient of an Artists Fellowship in Visual Art awarded by the City of Sacramento, CA.
Olga Antonova has been represented by the Beth Urdang Gallery since 2006.
