About the Item
This painting is in excellent condition and has only been shown in galleries. Born in Alcoy, Alicante, Spain in 1948, Ventura Diaz studied in the Fine Arts School in Valencia. His current body of works are inspired by the Valencian style of beach paintings first introduced to the American Market by Joaquín Sorolla. Similar to Sorolla, Diaz attempts to capture of light of a passing day paying careful attention to the use of color to capture that light.
For his subjects, Diaz finds inspiration from working in plein air. His current body of works pay homage to the workers on the beach that he has been accustomed to seeing throughout his life. Impressionism gives Diaz the freedom to capture the nuisance of everyday life without pretension.
