Robin Cole
Blood Moon, 9 x 12 Oil Painting

2024

About the Item

Robin Cole's "Blood Moon," a 2024 oil and gold on panel, is a captivating piece measuring 9 x 12 inches, presented within a frame sized at 13.50 x 16.50 inches. Available on 1st Dibs, this painting is a celestial marvel that encapsulates the haunting beauty of lunar eclipses. The rich, warm tones of the blood moon are rendered with a luminescent quality, its coppery hues offset by the glint of gold, which symbolizes the rarity and significance of such an astronomical event. Surrounding the moon, the deep blue of the night sky is accentuated with subtle, gilded crescents that echo the moon's phases, adding a layer of depth and texture to the composition. With "Blood Moon," Cole invites contemplation on the cyclical nature of celestial bodies and the universal rhythms they signify. The framed artwork, with its exquisite use of precious materials, is a testament to the artist's skill and a luxurious addition to any art collection. About the artist: Most of us can barely recall the years we spent viewing the world as a fluid realm of endless possibility, inviting us to explore, to imagine, and to dream. There is something timeless about these simple tents that bring to mind the little teepee that was my personal fort and fortress during my youth. Like all the best forts, it was a canvas for my imagination. I miss this magical thinking, but children do have a special way of guiding us back to it—even within the confines of our adult minds—as we view the world through their eyes. Incredibly, this image is not invented, but a relatively accurate depiction of a scene witnessed by my fellow art lover and friend, Tim Newton, who has my gratitude for sharing the photos that sparked both memory and imagination. - Robin Cole
