About the Item

Landscape mixed media on canvas 100x120 cm original art ready to hang Marilina Marchica was born in Agrigento, where she works and lives, After receiving her diploma at Liceo Artistico "Michelangelo" in Agrigento, she moved to Spain for the Erasmus project at the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia In 2008 she graduated in Painting at Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna. her painting tells of the relationship between man, nature and time, the landscape, the sign and the trace, through the stripping, reduction and subtraction of figurative elements. "my landscapes are" boxes "of memories, day after day they welcome events and individuals who leave their marks and change their boundaries and appearance " The aesthetics of the "Sign" in Marilina Marchica's pictorial production starts from a research on architecture the wall as a diaphragm between inside and outside this takes on a strong symbolic value for the artist, crystallizes collapses and demolitions, freeing them from oblivion and placing them in a universal dimension that alludes to life and its seasons. This cyclical and dynamic trend, on the other hand, tends to expand in the "Landscapes" to take on an expanded dimension that aligns itself on the geographical horizons, evoked by a vision of reality bordering on abstraction. In the landscape views of Marilina Marchica, that faint line of demarcation between absence and presence invites the observer to expose unknown dimensions, pushing us, geographically and sentimentally, elsewhere. Among the most significant projects: participation in the FAM Award - Fabbriche Chiaramontane di Agrigento (2016) and the artist residency at Villa Aurea - Valle dei Templi, Superintendence of Cultural Heritage of Agrigento (2017) and the site-specific intervention for the crypt of the Church of Santa Maria del Piliere (2017); the personal exhibitions at the FAM Gallery in Agrigento (2016) and Spazio Hus in Milan (2019) and the group exhibitions in 2019 at the Heike Arndt DK Gallery in Berlin and “Stories of white” at the Quam gallery in Scicli. Her works are present in many public and private collections, among the publications: “New Collectors Book”, edited by Basak Malone and published in New York (2015) and “Through. A review of visual arts for Palermo Capital of culture 2018 ".

  • I Know Everything - Birds Eye View of Chicago Looking East, Oil & Acrylic
    By Albert Vidal Moreno
    Located in Chicago, IL
While visiting Chicago in the summer of 2019, Vidal was afforded a stunning view of the city from various vantage points. This bird's eye view is looking east into the city with a peak of Lake Michigan in the background and captures a portion of Chicago's iconic skyline. The loose, abstract brush strokes and warm color palette come together in this remarkable urban landscape painting. The bottom of the painting is marked with Vidal's signature - a series of numbers. The artist has carried the painting over the edges, thus allowing it to remain unframed. Alternate framing options can be discussed with the gallery.
