About the Item
An oil painting of a landscape in Sagaponack NY. Lines radiate across the canvas towards the bottom and right side of the canvas in shades of yellow, brown and orange, indicating rows of plants or tilled soil in a field. The field is surrounded by lush thick brush-stokes in shades of green flecked there and there with bright orange. The top fourth of the painting shows the sky, full of points of paint, most under the resin. The white dots above the resin cast shadows below, adding dimension to the piece. The two radiating lines that surround the lower righthand corner are also painted above the resin, one white and one a swirl of primary colors loosely mixed together. The raw white gessoed linen canvas is clearly visible between the precisely placed brush-strokes, all sealed under resin. The colors in this piece bring to mind early September leaves in the trees and grass in the fields begin to change.

Darius Yektai was born in Southampton NY, in 1973. He lives and works out of his home and studio in Sag Harbor. He grew up in a cultural home of art and artists, with his Greek-American Mother, and his Father, Manoucher Yektai, an Iranian who emigrated to the US after the Second World War, was a prominent Hamptons AbEx painter. Darius has picked up some traits from his father but pushes even further into what is now completely his-own.
Darius' most recent body of work is bright, colorful, with oil and acrylic paints laid on thick. He's creating sculptural paintings that can't be read from left to right, they need to be examined from surface to base, from section to section, and then overall as an encompassing whole.

Darius Yektai
Darius Yektai was born in Southampton, New York, in 1973. He lives and works out of his home and studio in Sag Harbor. Darius grew up in a cultural home of art and artists, with his Greek-American mother and his father, Manoucher Yektai, an Iranian who emigrated to the United States after the Second World War. Manoucher was a prominent Hamptons Abstract Expressionist painter. Darius has picked up some traits from his father but pushes even further into what is now completely his own.
Darius’s most recent body of work is bright and colorful, with oil and acrylic paints laid on thickly. He's creating sculptural paintings that can't be read from left to right — they need to be examined from surface to base, from section to section, and then, overall, as an encompassing whole.
