Midday in the Languedoc, France'

1958

About the Item

Barbara Robinson trained at the Slade School of Art in London but left England to settle in the South of France by the late 1950’s. Her interest in painting landscape emerges strongly - emphasising the sense of dynamism and movement inherent in the sweep of nature. Many of her paintings were then exhibited back in the UK primarily through the New Art Centre where she had solo exhibitions. She also worked in portraiture and her painting of Dame Mary Warnock hangs in the collection of Girton College Cambridge. Work also hangs in the Government Art Collection.
