Maritime oil painting 19th century, by Prof. Alfred Jensen. Ship and boat at sea.

Age-related condition.
Alfred Jensen was already at sea at the age of 14 and went on study trips to countries such as Africa, Australia and China. From 1884 to 1885 he studied with Heinrich Leitner in Hamburg. Then he went to sea again. In 1897 he continued his studies, this time at the Academy in Kassel with Emil Neumann. He then lived in Hamburg and acted as a professor at the local arts and crafts school.
Jensen is considered a so-called marine painter, whose works, including ship portraits, can be found in museums in Hamburg (Museum for Hamburg History, Altona Museum), Bremerhaven, Kiel, Tronse and in private collections.
