Müller began his artistic training at the age of 14 when he entered the Bristol Academy of Fine Arts. He showed exceptional talent and quickly gained recognition for his landscape paintings. His early works were influenced by the Romantic movement and the dramatic landscapes of artists like J.M.W. Turner. In 1834, Müller embarked on a grand tour of Europe, visiting countries such as Italy, Greece, and Egypt. The exotic landscapes and ancient ruins he encountered during his travels greatly influenced his artistic style.
