Richard Thomas Scott
Richard Thomas Scott is inspired by the works of Rembrandt, Andrew Newell Wyeth and Johannes Vermeer. Born in Conyers, Georgia, and now living in Hudson, New York, Scott is an American history painter best known for asking tough questions about world events or societal injustices through provocative and sometimes controversial imagery. Scott pursued a BFA in painting in the Lamar Dodd School of Art at the University of Georgia, followed by an MFA in painting from the New York Academy of Art. After graduation, he worked for two years as a painter for Jeff L. Koons, then three years as a studio assistant to Odd Nerdrum in Norway and Paris, France. Scott began work for the United States Mint in 2014 under the Artistic Infusion Program. His work has exhibited at the Grand Palais des Champs-Élysées in Paris, the Palazzo Cini in Venice, the Museu Europeu d'Art Modern in Barcelona, the Museum of New Art in Detroit and is part of collections worldwide such as The New Britain Museum of American Art, the Georgia Museum of Art, the European Museum of Modern Art, the Museum of Contemporary Arts, former British Arts Minister Alan Thomas Howarth of Newport, Prince Morad El Hattab and Robert C. - Farm to TableBy Maryann LucasLocated in Sag Harbor, NYAn oil painting of farm-fresh goods laid on a table with a plaid picnic-print tablecloth. Maryann Lucas lives and works in Sag Harbor. She is primarily self-taught but has also received instruction and support from wonderful and generous members of the East End artistic community. Working exclusively in oils, Lucas sets out almost daily to create plein aire landscapes and seascapes. In her studio, she works directly from life and captures the beauty of natural light as it transforms ordinary objects into visual delights. Lucas wants her work to celebrate all that is well with this world and brilliant in this life, despite its pockets of darkness. For me, she says, I know I am in the Presence of something beautiful, when it steals my breath, silences my mind, pushes out everything else and draws me in. I trust That. I use That to guide my hands as I arrange a still life or scan a landscape to determine where to set down my easel. Ultimately, That is what drives me to paint. Becoming evermore skilled as an oil painter is another of Lucas goals. To that end she remains teachable, finding it refreshing and vital for her own growth to paint with others. She has studied with favorite artists including Michael Klein...Category

- Ecce Homo / Behold the ManBy Willard DixonLocated in Burlingame, CA'Ecce Homo (Behold the Man)' by Willard Dixon. These paintings are generally taken from small black and white newspaper photos from Willard Dixon’s daily reading of the news. In 'Ecce Homo', the image was taken from a story where Palestinian medics evacuate an injured protester who clashed with Israeli security near the boarder Dixon changes the images somewhat by cropping them, taking things out, adding color, etc. But the image is definitely something seen originally by someone else. “I must say”, says Dixon, “I have rather strong feelings about these images myself. I see them at least in part as an homage to the intrepid photographers on the front lines who are telling truth to the world about what’s actually going on out there.” Willard Dixon Born: Kansas City MO, 1942 Education: Art Students League, New York, NY Cornell University Brooklyn Museum School San Francisco Art Institute, M.F.A. 1969 Awards and Commissions N.E.A.
