MA BhattiBringing in the Strays
About the Item
"Bringing in the Strays" is a painting of the American South West by Dr. M.A. Bhatti, executed in oil on canvas; measuring 24 x 30 inches.
The painting depicts a Western scene of cowboys on horseback in the dessert bringing in stray cattle during a cattle drive, in front of a background with red rock mountains. The lead cowboy, in center of the composition, rides a chestnut horse with a white blaze. The lead cowboy wears a black hat, a blue shirt, and tan chaps. In the midground a group of several cattle walk towards the viewer, followed by four cowboys on horses. One cowboy and horse stand in profile, looking to the right, on the right side of the group. The group of cowboys, horses, and cattle kick up a cloud of dust around them as they progress. Signed M A Bhatti, lower right.
The painting is framed and ready to hang in a simple, black frame.
Dr. Mohammad Ali Bhatti is a world renowned contemporary painter. He has been exhibiting for the last 35 years, having had over 30 national and international solo exhibitions and several group shows to his credit. His artistic accomplishments are equally outstanding in portrait painting, abstract painting, southwestern subjects and watercolor painting. His academic and artistic achievements are exceptional.
He earned his MFA in painting from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, and his PhD in Interdisciplinary Arts from Ohio University. Bhatti describes that painting is like composing a symphony where he emphasizes vivid tonality, the juxtaposition of simple and complex forms, and texture. His compositions are energetic allowing elements to move freely in an anonymous space molded with bold brush strokes. Visual complexity, aesthetic sensibility of design, form, and content are the true essence of his painting.

Dr. Mohammad Ali Bhatti is a well-known Contemporary Expressionist painter who concentrates on themes involving mysticism and global socio-political issues. Born and raised in Pakistan, he attended local art institutions in his early years and subsequently travelled to the United States where he earned an MFA from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania and a PhD in Interdisciplinary Arts from Ohio University, Athens. For the last 35 years, he has painted and exhibited around the world resulting in 35 solo exhibitions. Mr. Bhatti’s work is expressive, energetic, and bold. He pushes boundaries and explores new techniques, using acrylic paint, acrylic ink, and oil pastels to create vibrant art on canvas. Bhatti firmly believes that art doesn’t necessarily have to be pretty or perfect, but it must evoke emotion. The synthesis of his aesthetic sensibility and technical versatility is the vehicle which allows him to explore the interplay of exotic forms and shapes with freedom. His distinctive style, conceptual subjects, and spontaneity is instantly recognizable; collectors throughout the United States and abroad value and prize his work. In addition to Bhatti’s Abstract Expressionist paintings; he is an accomplished portrait painter. He has painted numerous official and private portrait commissions of prominent personalities in Pakistan, India, Malaysia, United States of America, Singapore, Thailand, and the Middle East. Currently Dr. Bhatti lives in Houston, Texas, and is associated with the Watercolor Art Society of Houston, Austin galleries TX, and artist-owned Archway Gallery in Houston. He is inspired by the lifestyle of the American West. He explains. “I feel driven to capture on canvas the beauty of life on a ranch, livestock, rodeo activities, rocky mountains, and wide open landscapes. He also teaches a variety of art classes, using a combination of demonstration and hands-on instruction, and has a large committed following of students.

Most often I am painting those actual scenes recorded in history, as conflict and hardship shaped this young country. However, I also paint generic historical scenes of everyday life. This is one of those, when I have fun painting the personality of an engagement between man, women and horse...” —John Buxton...Category

- Bird Concert (after Earlom)By Shelley ReedLocated in Denver, COThis is an oil painting on canvas and is monochromatic black. Reed's primary focus has been the rich vein of Northern European art from the mid-17th through 18th centuries, a period of enlightenment and profound interest in science, nature, and the animal world. Animals were assigned human traits (peacock:vanity; dog:fidelity), and nature itself was considered a symbol of God's providence - a commonly held belief within the stratified, gentry dominated social order of the time. Reed (b. 1958, New York, NY) lives and works in Boston, MA. She is a recipient of the Boston Museum of Fine Arts Maud Morgan...Category
