Play #3 Contemporary Original Abstract Oil Painting

2022

About the Item

This series focuses on the idea of play and the emotions involved in the act of playing. We often forget the importance of relaxing the mind, of letting go of our troubles, of being in a state of joy. In these paintings, I try to capture the sensation of carefreeness I had as a child simply playing. My use of color, shape, design, and texture all contribute to the painting’s ability to convey that sensation. My intent in creating these paintings is to move the viewer to feel a spark of play. This oil on canvas painting is 30 inches x 30 inches. The canvas is stretched on heavy duty stretcher bars. All materials used are high quality archival. This piece is not framed. Signed and dated on back. Please inquire if you have any questions at all. Play #3 Contemporary Original Abstract Pink Oil Painting

The Grid Drawing series stemmed from the Grid Drawing series. Both were an examination of three major elements - color, surface and mark making. The nonrepresentational drawings gave me the freedom to concentrate on and investigate more thoroughly the process by which I make them. They were largely inspired by woven textile art. The drawings were done on old textile paper, which is lined with a rectangular grid on which the designer would paint the image to be woven. The Grid Paintings...
