Nancy Martin was born in London, England on Jan. 18, 1906. At age 14 Martin sailed to Canada where she studied at the Winnipeg Art School. In 1922 she came to California and continued her art study in San Francisco with Maria von Ridelstein and Peter BIos. Working in oil and watercolor, she painted floral still lifes, nudes, abstracts, and a few landscapes.
As a charter member of the Society of Western Artists her work was displayed in many of the annual showings at the DeYoung Museum. To be accepted for this even all paintings must be judged by a panel of prominent art critics and artists. Nancy's paintings have won several awards including honors at the State Fair and at the annual Society of Western Artists showings.
After moving to Santa Rosa, CA in the late 1970s, she remained there until her death on May 26, 2000.
