About the Item
Beautifully executed super realistic watercolor on archival paper of an open barn window and the outdoor view beyond. Done in a trompe L’oeil style. Signed and dated 1969 by the American artist Rudolph Ohrning lower left. Under glass and in excellent condition. The artwork is housed in a black and gold gallery frame with a double mat in fine condition. Overall framed measurements are 18 by 15 inches. Provenance: A Sarasota, Florida collector.
Rudolph Ohrning (American 1930-2011)
A graduate of the American Academy of Art in Chicago, he was a member of the American Watercolor Society. He's represented in dozens of collections, including Amoco Corp., Borg-Wamer Corp. and Illinois Bell Telephone Co., Chicago; Municipal Art Museum, Davenport, Iowa; Parkersburg Art Center, West Virginia; Toyota Co., Japan, Illinois Historic Library, Illinois State Museum, among others.
Rudolph Ohrning's international group shows include: in New York, the American Watercolor Society, National Academy of Design, Knickerbocker Artists and Allied Artists of America; Swedish-American Exhibition.

Cafe Tabac is located in the foreground on the corner with the striped red awning. Circa 1975. Signed lower right. In very good original condition. Framed in one inch wide mahogany frame. Overall measurements 20 by 23.5 inches. Urbain Huchet was born in Rennes on April 28, 1930. After studying law and owning a textile factory for four years, he decided in 1960 to devote himself entirely to painting. Mr. Huchet spent his first three years as an artist in Pont-Aven, following in the footsteps of Gauguin and Emile Bernard, both of whom influenced him a great deal. He does many paintings of the landscape and the typical people this region. His love of the Brittany coast and the sea can always be seen in his work. After moving to Paris in 1963, his love of adventure and travel led him to spend time painting and writing in Europe, the Middle East, and South America, where he produced many paintings of the Indian markets and the great scenery. He made 14 trips of more than 4 months each, from Mexico to Brazil via Peru, Central America and the Caribbean Islands.
